The Google Nexus S which went on sale in the UK just before Xmas is receiving its first update already. This is the Android 2.3.1 Gingerbread update and arrives over the air ( OTA ).
The news broke via the XDA-Developers Forum and the new 2.3.1. update brings an update to the Google Maps app ( v5.0 ). There are also reported to be some bug fixes.
XDA-Developers Forum say that the update is just under 2 MB but there is no official confirmation that the update has officially rolled out to-date. If you'd like to check then you can dial *#*#checkin#*#* on the dialer. Once dialed you should see the notification for the software update on your screen.
