Google's recent attention has been directed towards their first tablet the Google Nexus 7, which is proving a rip-roaring success. However, according to new rumours their focus is now switching back to the smartphone market.
Rumours from an anonymous source close to HTC, who spoke to GSMArena , suggest that the Google Nexus 5 will be the next Google Nexus device and claimed that it'll be manufactured by HTC.
The Google Nexus 5 is rumoured to have a 5 inch touch-screen which runs at a 1080p resolution (1920*1080 pixels). If this does prove true then it'll be a truly stunning display with a PPI much higher than anything currently on the market.
You'll need a lot of power to drive a display with that resolution and thankfully it looks like the Google Nexus 5 won't disappoint. Apparently , it'll be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip which we expect to run at a minimum of 1.4 Ghz , while we can't see it having less than 2GB of RAM.
The Nexus 5 is thought to have both a 12 mega-pixel rear facing camera and a 2 mega-pixel front facing snapper. The smartphone will be available in a choice of 16,32 or 64GB of on-board memory, while it'll have a 2,500 mAh battery and will support 4G LTE.
Google normally launches new operating systems on its own devices and the Google Nexus 5 is rumoured to be the first device running Android 4.1.2 , which is an updated version of the Jelly Bean operating system. It won't be a huge update, but it's expected to bring a substantial overall improvement on the current version.
As always we have to exert a massive amount of caution regarding the validity of this leak, but it does seem viable and 3G will bring you news about the Google Nexus 5 when we hear more !
